13% de moradores de favelas estão nas classes A e B

Os moradores das mil principais favelas da região metropolitana do Rio de Janeiro formam juntos uma população que equivale a nona maior cidade do Brasil.
São 1,7 milhão de pessoas responsáveis por movimentar R$ 13 bilhões - considerados produtos e serviços consumidos, além de crédito disponível.
Desse total, 66% pertencem à nova classe média. Na alta renda estão 13% dos moradores dessas comunidades --em 2001, eles representavam 1%.
Pertencem à classe média famílias com renda per capita de R$ 291 a R$ 1.019. Essa classe foi dividida em três subgrupos: a baixa classe média (renda per capita de R$ 291 a R$ 441), a média (de R$ R$ 441 a R$ 641 por pessoa) e a alta classe média (de R$ 641 a R$ 1.019).
Famílias com renda per capita acima de R$ 1.019 estão na chamada alta renda -- ou classes A e B. As com renda per capita inferior a R$ 291 estão na baixa renda -- antigas classes D e E.
